Fendi is a brand which emerged as a family which pursued elegance, craftsmanship, innovation and style. Today, it retains these underlying foundations while continuing to explore the evolution of these values through quality, tradition, experimentation and creativity. Interested in where this maison sources its wealth of inspiration, we looked to the eternal city of Rome, the birthplace of Fendi itself.
One of the best ways to understand the magic of Rome is simply to walk its streets. The act of walking through the city is like listening to a symphony. Quiet, narrow alleyways open up into expansive, chaotic piazzas. Parks offer pockets
of refuge from the ceaseless noise while hidden courtyards lure you in from side streets. These moments of surprise and intrigue are created by the architecture of the city, composed of pure geometric forms arranged in such a way as to trick our sense perception and proportion. Perception is deceived not only through form, but through material as well. A seemingly ancient city, which consists of numerous modern buildings who camouflage themselves into the landscape by using traditional Roman materials such as travertine to cover their steel structures.

This project aims to evoke the essence of beauty found in Rome, by highlighting how its geometry plays with our sense of space and visual perception within different public spaces. Having identified six typological common spaces within the city, we distill each one down to its purest form in order to emphasize the refined beauty imbued within it. The exhibition offers a brief journey through the city while showcasing the Fendi products and vision which were inspired by these very ideas.

01. ILLUSION 02. ENIGMA 03. DREAM 04. OPTICAL 05. ETERNAL
To live in Rome is to be a Fendi woman. She is not governed by the rules of time and space but rather exists in her own dream world of mystery and infinite beauty. She is a patron of masters of illusion; Peruzzi, Borromini, Pozzo, De Chirico, artists who explore the effects of perspective and envision metaphysical places. She lives each day in a state of eternity, balancing between past and present, reality and fantasy. At first glance, her skin seems to be ancient and classical, yet her skeleton reveals modernity and refinement. She indulges in the art of deception, making one question proportion and perception as they wander through her narrow alleyways and broad boulevards. She is rooted in her heritage, yet continues to redefine herself throughout the ages.
